Throwback Thursday – Home-A-Rama 2016 Pt. One
Sophisticated Contemporary
Senior Designer Lu Olp has participated in the Home-A-Rama previously, however, this was Senior Designer Jessica Corbin-Mahaney’s first official Home-a-Rama design experience.

This beautiful million-dollar home was described by our designers as “Sophisticated Contemporary.” Classy and fresh, this home, according to Olp has an open, functional design. “Which works well for entertaining!” The vibrancy yet comfortability of the home, according to Corbin-Mahaney is achieved through “clean lines, reflective materials, and nice scale.” Corbin-Mahaney believes that above all you must “go with what you love!” Or if all else fails, “A great piece of art.”

The two working together is not out of the ordinary for our Designers, Olp said that “what a lot of people might not realize, it’s a team effort.” Whether it’s “check this out, which one would you choose…” they bounce ideas off of one another. “I’m going to let you do what you want, but I’m not going to let you make a mistake,” Olp said this is how she approaches her clients with their projects. “I become my client when creating a home; their idea of the home looks unique to anyone else.”

The home had come together beautifully, despite some small scheduling setbacks. “Timing is essential, it is always essential,” Corbin-Mahaney said. Olp followed up with “It always gets done…you just don’t stop until it’s done.” When touring the home, there was one thing that stood out as seemingly different… a zebra ottoman in the fitness room. As it turns out the choice was not the original plan, however, “You have to be ready for change, whether you want it or not,” Olp said. They originally planned to place it in the master closet, however, an island was built in the space intended for the ottoman, thus, it’s new space is in the fitness room. Something funky and surprising can be purposeful, if not on purpose at all.
