Sketch Phrases – People Make the Difference

Every organization tells us that their people are their most important assets.  However, rarely do their actions match their words.  Plus, who wants to be referred to as an “asset”.  There’s something inanimate about this descriptor.

To attract and keep great people demands a culture that shares their values and respects them for who they are.  Their efforts must be genuinely acknowledged and appreciated.  At Kittle’s, our culture is based on having a servant mentality.  Servant leadership teaches that everyone can lead, and everyone works for everyone else.  I come to work every day and work for all 285 of my fellow associates.  Each is counting on me to do my job, as I am counting on them.   We treat others as we would want to be treated.  We are fair, consistent and treat one another with respect.  This is who we are.

The result is that we have an incredibly high average tenure (10+ years) and folks who enjoy helping and serving.  We believe that ours is the kind of culture that the best folks want to be a part of.  We know that while we sell furniture and mattresses, what we are really doing is helping others to improve their lives.  Furniture and mattresses are just a means to that end.

Our customers benefit by interacting with the best of the best.  We want a relationship, not just a transaction.  We provide a different kind of experience, a much better one too.  No, we are not perfect, but when mistakes happen, we make it right.  That is how we would want to be treated, so that is how we treat our customers.
