Loft Living in Carmel – Designed by Peter Whitten

Posted on May 24th, 2018 by kittles.

Raw building materials shine in an industrial home, and this one is no different.  Visible upon entering the home there is a red brick wall, ceiling-high concrete mantel, and glass enclosure at the top of the stairs.  Bright pops of artwork fill the rooms and contrast the otherwise neutral color palette.  This home has a particularly youthful vibe, like an uptown loft.

COLORS & PATTERNS

Charcoals, whites, warm browns, and splashes of rich color infuse the home. The materials brilliantly attest to the style – including metal, chrome, wood, brick, glass, and rich leathers.  The media room has wonderful pops of orange that enhance that young, hip vibe; this infusion of color is also used in the guest bathroom.

DETAILS

Pipe-like lighting flanks the stairway, the staircase itself has floating wood steps and a steel foundation.  The master bath embraces iron and subway tiles and feels commercial and raw at the same time.  The gym is a primary structure but doesn’t steal the show, despite being made out of glass walls with bright orange leather benches.  The perfect mix of grit and glam is apparent in this home.

FURNITURE

Primarily focusing on function, without sacrificing style.  The large sectional in the living room provides ample seating, there is also a separate conversation area across from the kitchen.  This area features two geometric plaid accent chairs with clean lines and a modern leather settee.  Surrounding the island are metal barstools – essential to this industrial look.  In the dining space – a raw wood table with an iron base is surrounded by mixed media chairs. Each piece of furniture serves a purpose – including the raw wood cocktail table downstairs and the trolley cart of treats in the media room.  For more information about any of the featured furniture please contact [email protected] or give us a call at (317) 558-4470.

Overall, this industrial style brownstone is urban, exposed and bold
